The Annex
Grand Victorian houses, a university on the doorstep and two subway lines meeting underneath it.

Homes for sale in The Annex
237 on the market now — each with its school boundaries, sale history and what comparable homes actually sold for.
What it is like
The Annex is one of Toronto’s oldest residential districts and its housing shows it: large Victorian and Edwardian houses in red brick and sandstone, many long since divided into flats, alongside apartment buildings from every decade since. That mix is why the listing data here swings so widely — a whole house and a one-bedroom in a low-rise sit on the same street and answer different questions.
Getting around
Better served than almost anywhere in the country. Line 1 runs beneath Spadina and Line 2 beneath Bloor, meeting at Spadina and St George stations, with Bathurst, Dupont and Museum stations all within the neighbourhood. The 510 Spadina streetcar runs south to the waterfront.
Things to see and do
Casa Loma and Spadina Museum sit on the escarpment at the north edge. The Royal Ontario Museum, the Bata Shoe Museum and the University of Toronto’s St George campus are all at the southern boundary. Philosopher’s Walk and the ravine paths give the area more green than its density suggests.
Shops, restaurants and work
Bloor Street West between Spadina and Bathurst is the main commercial run — bookshops, restaurants and repertory cinema — with a second strip along Dupont and a third on Harbord to the south.
Schools nearby
Within about 2.5km of the middle of the neighbourhood, with the Ministry of Education’s EQAO results where the school reported them. A rating is one measure of one thing, and school boundaries are set by the board rather than by distance — check any individual listing for the boundaries that actually apply to it.
