What it is like
A dense cluster of condominium towers around the intersection, thinning quickly into low-rise apartment blocks and then into the detached and semi-detached streets of Mount Pleasant and Davisville. That gradient is the whole story of the area: a one-bedroom in a tower and a detached house on a side street are both Mount Pleasant West, and they are different markets. The tower stock is largely post-2005 and still growing.
Getting around
Line 1 stops at Eglinton and Davisville, and Line 5 Eglinton — which opened to passengers on 8 February 2026 after years of delay — now crosses east-west beneath Eglinton Avenue with an interchange at Eglinton station. That interchange is the change buyers here have been pricing in for a decade: Kennedy in Scarborough and Mount Dennis in the west are now a single ride. Service is still ramping up toward full frequencies through the first months of operation.
Things to see and do
Eglinton Park has the community centre and the sports fields; the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail runs west from Yonge along a former rail corridor and is the area’s best walking and running route. Mount Pleasant Cemetery, immediately south, is a genuine landscape of its own and is used as a park. The cinema and the cluster of restaurants at the intersection make this a midtown night-out destination rather than only a commuter node.
Shops, restaurants and work
Yonge Street north and south of Eglinton is continuous retail and restaurants, with Eglinton Way west of Yonge holding the more independent shops. Office employment is concentrated in the towers at the intersection itself. Grocery, banking and everyday services are all within walking distance of most addresses, which is a large part of why the area commands what it does.
